Lake Nakuru National Park

The best time to view flamingos is during the dry seasons (January-February and July-October) when millions of flamingos congregate at the alkaline lake. Peak numbers can exceed one million birds. The optimal viewing location is from Baboon Cliff, which offers panoramic views of the lake and its spectacular flamingo populations.

Yes, camping is available at designated campsites within the park. Visitors must reserve special campsites in advance for exclusive use. Campers are required to bring personal effects, drinking water, a fire source, and other necessities. However, note that campsites are prone to flooding during heavy rains, so it is advisable to contact park management before visiting during rainy seasons.

The park offers several privately owned lodges including The Cliff, Flamingo Hill Camp Lodge, Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, and Lake Nakuru Lodge. Lake Nakuru National Park is approximately 160 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, accessible via the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. The drive takes approximately 2-2.5 hours under normal conditions.
