Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about SafariFind, quotes and planning your African safari.
About SafariFind
What is SafariFind?+
SafariFind is a platform that connects travelers with verified tour operators across Africa. We help you discover safari packages, compare operators, read reviews, and request quotes — all in one place, making it easier to plan your dream African safari.
Is SafariFind a tour operator?+
No. SafariFind is a marketplace that connects you with verified safari tour operators. When you book, you book directly with the operator, not with SafariFind. We facilitate the connection and provide information to help you decide.
How do you verify tour operators?+
We verify operators through a multi-step process that includes checking business registration, tourism licenses, insurance documentation and operational history. We also consider reviews from past travelers and may interview operators before listing them.
Booking & Quotes
How do I request a quote?+
Click the “Get a free quote” button on any package or operator page and share your travel details — dates, group size and preferences. The operator then contacts you directly with a personalized quote. You can also use our AI chat assistant to find the right safari and request quotes.
Is requesting a quote free?+
Yes. Requesting a quote through SafariFind is completely free for travelers, with no obligation to book after receiving it.
How long does it take to receive a quote?+
Most operators respond within 24–48 hours. Response times vary by location and time zone, but the best operators typically reply within a few hours.
Can I book directly through SafariFind?+
Currently, bookings are made directly with the tour operator. After requesting a quote, the operator provides booking instructions and payment details — allowing personalized communication and flexibility to customize your safari.
Safari Planning
When is the best time to go on safari?+
It depends on your destination and what you want to see. Dry seasons (June–October in East Africa, May–October in Southern Africa) offer excellent wildlife viewing as animals gather around water. Green seasons offer birding and fewer crowds. Our destination pages give location-specific guidance.
How far in advance should I book?+
We recommend booking 3–6 months ahead, especially for peak season (July–October) or specific lodges. For events like the Great Migration, 6–12 months is advisable. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible but with limited options.
What should I pack for a safari?+
Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, brown), comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, binoculars, a camera with a zoom lens, insect repellent and personal medications. Most operators send a detailed packing list when you book.
Are safaris safe?+
Yes — safaris with reputable operators are very safe. Professional guides are trained in wildlife behavior and safety, vehicles are built for game viewing, and camps follow strict security measures. Always follow your guide's instructions.
Pricing & Costs
Why do safari prices vary so much?+
Prices depend on accommodation type (basic camps vs. luxury lodges), location (remote areas cost more), season, group size (private vs. shared), included activities and the operator's experience. We show transparent pricing so you can compare options.
What's typically included in a safari package?+
Most packages include accommodation, meals, game drives, park fees and transfers within the safari circuit; some include internal flights. Typically excluded are international flights, travel insurance, visas, tips and personal expenses. Every package page lists what's included and excluded.
Should I tip my safari guide?+
Tipping is customary and appreciated. As a guide, $10–20 per person per day for your main guide and $5–10 for other staff is typical. Your operator can advise based on destination and service level.
Reviews & Trust
Are the reviews on SafariFind genuine?+
Yes. Reviews can only be submitted by travelers who have completed a safari with the operator. We verify reviews and may contact reviewers to confirm their experience. Operators cannot pay for or remove legitimate reviews.
What if I have a problem with an operator?+
First try to resolve it directly with the operator. If that doesn't work, contact us at support@safarifind.com. While bookings are between you and the operator, we take feedback seriously and may adjust an operator's status based on consistent issues.
For Tour Operators
How can I list my safari company on SafariFind?+
Visit our partner pages to apply. We review your application, verify your credentials and guide you through onboarding. There's no upfront fee — you only pay when you receive qualified leads.
What does it cost to be listed?+
SafariFind uses a pay-per-quote model. Listing your company and packages is free; you only pay when you receive a qualified quote request from a traveler, so you only pay for genuine leads.
