May to October (dry season) is ideal for wildlife viewing, with cooler temperatures (15–25°C), clear skies, and animals concentrated near water sources. June–August offers the coolest weather and peak visitor numbers. November to April (wet season) features lush vegetation, excellent bird watching, and lower prices, but roads are rougher and wildlife is more dispersed. September–October brings increasing heat (up to 28°C) and excellent predator activity.

The conservancy hosts all Big Five mammals: lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant, and black and white rhino. Additional species include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, eland, sable antelope, painted dogs, and over 500 bird species. The reserve maintains among the highest leopard densities in southern Africa and stable wild dog populations suitable for range expansion. Nocturnal wildlife includes servals, civets, bush babies, and nightjars visible on night drives.
